Warren Cariou has published two books that are set in his home land in Northern Saskatchewan: a fiction collection entitled The Exalted Company of Roadside Martyrs and a memoir/cultural history entitled Lake of the Prairies: A Story of Belonging. He is of Métis, German and Norwegian heritage, and his writing explores the relationships between Native and non-Native communities in Western Canada. He is a professor of Aboriginal Literature and a Canada Research Chair at the University of Manitoba.
